The bandsaw is model number 2429-21XC. It comes with a formfitting carry case, a 30-minute charger, an M12 red lithium EXCI battery, a blade, and an instruction manual. It has space to store the battery on the tool and one more battery in the case. So, if you have extra M12 battery, you can very easily store it in the case.
The saw has a 20,000th thick blade which is half an inch wide. The blade is a 27 and 1/16 inches long. You can get the blade in different variety like different pitches, different tooth branches. You can choose different blades depending on the object you decide to cut. The saw performed well for us.
It is OSHA approved for cutting with a single hand. For that, it has ample guarding around the saw. The saw is an inch and 5/8 wide for cuts. You can cut 2 and 3/4 inches in depth.
The LED light inside the saw is just excellent! The light is bright enough under dim lights, and you can work with focus and concentrate on details. The light also lits up beautifully when the room lights are on. Overall, the LED light is amply lit under both conditions and cannot be called blinding at all, unlike many LED lights we have reviewed with other saws in the past. The light lets you focus on the right angles and places of the object you want to cut. It helps you to cut with precision under different lighting conditions. It is probably not a good idea to get your fingers near the blade, but it is going to show you exactly where it is going to cut. You will see a shadow, and you need to go through it.
The saw is extremely compact and portable. In the case of one-handed cuts and or may use the saw on a small bolt or you want to take the saw someplace else in your car, the Milwaukee 2429-21XC M12 does it all. It primarily performs well where you do not want to throw a lot of sparks from a grinder. Also, if you are around fuel or near anything combustible the Milwaukee M12 works excellent. Fell in love instantly with the small size of the saw. You can carry it anywhere, fit it anywhere, and performs like a pro compared to other saws much more prominent in size.
According to Milwaukee, the M12 cuts at 3/4 inch EMT. You can get a 125 cuts out of a single battery. You can also choose to upgrade to the XC 4.0 battery. It can help you enhance your cutting options, especially on bolts. But it will all depend on what you are planning to cut and what grade of a bolt and such other factors. We want to mention, we have been using this saw on working for some of our projects, and the battery has still been running. We even did our little experiment of soaking the saw in salt and water to test its performance. It performed like magic even in such conditions and did its cutting job like a pro! A little wonder machine we must say.
The batteries have a keyed stock type connector to plug into the charger. The lights and a chart above the connector tell you what is going on with the recharge cycle. Once you charge the battery fully, you can plug in the battery pack to the tool.
If you are on the lookout for a machine which cuts metals as well that is small in size you should get your hands on the Milwaukee M12. It allows you to get into different areas. The most significant learning for us when we tried to cut metal with the Milwaukee 2429-21XC M12 is that we had to learn to not press down on it. Just pull the trigger and let the Saw work its way through the metal. It cuts metal fine when you do it this way. All you need to do is place the blade where you want to cut. Make sure the fence is up against the steel. Pull the trigger, and the Milwaukee M12 will do the rest by itself.
If you want to change the blade of the saw, it is damn simple. You do not have to get screwdrivers to open the blades. There are sliding latches that open the bottom door to give you access to the blade. The blade door opens wide, so you have full access for opening the blade. You can learn to install the blade easily after a couple of times. We recommend you to put it into the roller guides first, and you will see the blade goes in very smoothly. Once you fix the blade over the wheels, it is now time to shut down the cover of the blade again.
Once you turn it over, there is a lever on the back that you need to push to remove the tension. You can put a blade in and tighten it up. There is also a tracking system in the back. If you have an issue with the blade coming off, you can adjust it slightly. You can squeeze the trigger a couple of times, and the blade will automatically place itself on the wheel.
The saw has a full set of roller bearing guides that keep the blade tracking perfectly. You can also clean the blade whenever you need to as the entire blade path is easy to access. We feel the bandsaw is very easy to take care of because of this.
It has a magnet on the blade cover to pick up your metal shavings and also has a brush to keep your blade clean.
The Milwaukee 2429-21XC M12 Cordless Sub-Compact Bandsaw Kit is an excellent unit that has a 5-year warranty and a 3-year battery warranty.
One thing we noticed about the Milwaukee 2429-21XC M12 is that grip area of the saw is very comfortable to the hand. The trigger of the saw offers variable speed.
The bandsaw has an LED XPS system like in the Dewalt saws. The row of LED lights on the handle gives you an indication of the battery conditions and keeps you apprised of the battery life whenever you pull the trigger. The slider button above the lights locks out the trigger to avoid chances of it being operated by accident during transport.
The bandsaw has a cut reaction whenever you want to cut in the form of an LED headlight. It will stay on for about 30 seconds after you release the trigger and then you can line up your next cut.
So if you are also looking for something in the home tools and pro tools department which is handheld, then the Milwaukee 2429-21XC M12 Cordless Sub-Compact Bandsaw Kit is your baby! If you research on the Milwaukee 2429-21XC M12, you will find very few reasons not to purchase this machine.
The bandsaw is half the size of the carry box in which it comes. It is a little under 7 pounds. The monitor brightness is 242921 XC. XC stands for the extra capacity battery that comes with it.
The Saw is powerful. It goes through the conduit like no big deal. For most saws, you have to start them and then put them on to work. For the M12 we just let it relax on the work, pulled the trigger and it went right through. The saw just literally tears through. You could push as hard as you can, and it would not have anything like a blade slippage.
If you are an electrician or a plumber, this tool is a must-have. Milwaukee in the recent times has come up with newer models and designs concentrated on professionals to fit their needs. So any professional that have sawing needs and want a portable tool and handheld, there is no better than the Milwaukee 2429-21XC M12 Cordless Sub-Compact Bandsaw Kit.
The bandsaw comes with three extra blades, but we recommend getting more blades in case the blades happen to break. To purchase three more blades it should cost you an extra around $20.
The blades that come by default with the bandsaw are of high-quality, and the bandsaw itself is compelling. But will it cut through something like a 1.25" steel rod? We tried it. But we took care of using a more robust blade because we worked with the ones that come with the blade. It did cut through, but it took time. Moreover, the precision was not too high. If you use the right blade, it will cut more in-depth and will through conduit, rod and much more.
The most massive pipe the bandsaw will cut through is 1 and 1/2 inch EMT. We tried using a 2" pipe, but then it did not directly cut through. We had to turn it for it to cut through a 2". For cutting bigger pipes, you can also adjust the metal fence higher and then keep turning the tube as you cut it.
Priced at a $205 this bandsaw from Milwaukee is value for money. Power, precision and portable, the bandsaw performs high in all its aspects. Even if you are not looking for professional use or any project at hand, the Milwaukee 2429-21XC M12 Cordless Sub-Compact Bandsaw Kit can also deliver as an impressive home kit. We give a big thumbs up to the Milwaukee 2429-21XC M12.
